Without discussion, the Senate voted unanimously to pass a bill that would reduce or eliminate tariffs on household appliances, chemicals and about 1,660 other goods produced outside the United States.

Almost half of these goods are produced in China, showed an analysis of government documents conducted by Reuters.

The White House did not announce an official position on the bill, which was unanimously adopted by the Senate and the House of Representatives. Two chambers must eliminate minor differences before they can send the document for signature to US President Donald Trump.

Supporters of the bill said that it would provide an incentive for the economy by eliminating tariffs established to protect industries that no longer exist in the United States. The National Association of US Producers said that such import duties cost US companies $ 1 million a day.

Among those who will benefit from the adoption of the bill are companies that have transferred production abroad.

However, some local producers complained that the bill would undermine their business, making it easier for competitors to import cheap foreign goods.

Meanwhile, tensions in the US-China trade relations are exacerbating. As reported "Вести.Экономика", last week Trump said he was ready to impose duties on $ 500 billion of imports from China.

Earlier in July, US duties on goods from China began to operate at $ 34 billion. Beijing imposed reciprocal duties on goods from the United States for a similar amount.
